Eslington Park (Whittingham and Callaly)

The park and gardens surrounding Eslington Park were laid out around 1720. There were terraces on the south and east sides of the house overlooking an artificial lake formed by damming the River Aln. Between 1835-59 the lake was drained and converted partly into lawns and gardens. In 1926 a sunken garden with lily pond and a fountain were made to the east of the house. The gardens are believed to the most attractive in the county and contain many beautiful trees. The kitchen garden, cottage, cart shed and the Lady's Bridge are all Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
