Callaly Moor cists near the Coe Burn (Whittingham and Callaly)
A group of two prehistoric stone cists and a cairn were discovered overlooking the headwaters of the Coe Burn during field survey in 1987. The two cists measure about 1.2m by 1.5m and 0.75m by 1.2m respectively. The interior of each is filled with sediment and the capstones are both missing. Nearby is an oval cairn, about 6.5m by 5.5m, built of earth and stone. The centre has been disturbed, probably in an attempt to find a burial, and is hollowed. It is not known how this cairn might relate to the two cists nearby.
