Cup marked rock, Hunterheugh Crags (Hedgeley)
A cup and ring marked stone discovered on Hunterheugh Crags was probably carved over 4500 years ago, in what archaeologists call the Neolithic period. Archaeologists don't know for sure, but they think the stone may be connected to the religion of the people who carved it, or to land boundaries. The rocks are near other carved rock outcrops.
