Between 4000 and 6000 years ago, during what archaeologists call the Neolithic period, people carved a cup mark into this stone. Archaeologists think the cup marked stones were created either as a religious ritual, or perhaps to mark boundaries or routes through the landscape. It was later reused in a Bronze Age burial cist. The stone is now in the British Museum in London. The location of the pot is unknown.
