Thornbrough lime kiln (Corbridge)
Lime kiln in good condition with some small trees growing from its top. Three draw arches, two are in firebrick with iron-framed hatches in the roof. The arches are very deep with semi-circular vault. Rough-dressed stone, coursed stone rubble. (1)
Probably early 19th century, remodelled later 19th century. Rubble. Rectangular plan. Three segmental drawing arches, corbelled to pairs of segmental-arched eyes with brick voussoirs holding iron frames and furnace door hinges. Boarded door under timber lintel into barrel-vaulted chamber. (2)
A post medieval lime kiln is visible as a structure on air photographs at NZ 0127 6513. It is extant on the latest 1947 RAF vertical photography. (3)
General association with HER 31167 (Thornbrough Quarries). (3)
