The grounds of Minsteracres were laid out in the 19th century. The house is approached by a long avenue of giant redwood trees. There are plantations and pleasure grounds with many rare trees. The arboretum was created in about 1850 and remains of older structures lie in the estate. For example, an old archway in the wall of the Shrubbery is now blocked, but may have belonged to a former house or building. (1-6)
