Lime kiln north-east of Grasslees (Hepple)

A stone-built lime kiln with two triangular arches. It may date to the late 18th or early 19th century. Traces of limestone quarrying can be seen nearby. This limestone was burnt in the kilns to make lime which was used to improve soil quality or make cement.
