Quarry House trackway and field system (Bavington)

(NY 96728057) About 100yds east of the Camp (NY 98 SE 2) is a cairn. (1)

There is no trace of a Cairn in the area described, although it is well suited for one. (2)

Two rows of stones form an alignment, centred at NY 96678063, running for c.70m approximately east-west. The two rows lie c.7m apart. Each side of the alignment are the earthwork remains of a field system, incorporating field banks and cairns. Later ridge and furrow covers the area and it is suggested the alignment is a trackway, possibly of Romano-British date. (3)
N9538
Roman (43 to 410)
Bronze Age (2600BC to 700BC)
EXCAVATION, LIMESTONE RIGG 1886; HEDLEY, R C
