Roman well at Chesters (Humshaugh)

Between Cilurnum and its cemetery, is a well encircled with Roman masonry, but now practically filled up. (2)
The well is sealed by a modern iron covering. (3)

The well is extant immediately outside the garden of Chesters. It is surrounded by an iron fence and boarded over. The masonry is, therefore, not visible but even if it is of Roman origin it may be re-used; the well is beyond the known extent of the Roman vicus. (5a)
