The main bath house at Chesters Roman fort was built outside the fort, near to the bridge and the Military Way. The building was discovered in the 1880s and had a paved floor, hypocaust and an outflow drain, as well as various hot and cold rooms. The west wall of the bath house stands 3m high in places, but elsewhere the stone has been robbed. The remains are well preserved and on display to visitors. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
