Medieval bridge at Chollerford (Humshaugh)
There was a bridged river crossing at Chollerford in medieval times. The bridge was built in the reign of Richard II (1377-1399) and the west abutment lies buried in bushes and shingle downstream of the present Chollerford Bridge. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
