[NY 99146430] Monks Holme. (1)

'Monks Holme' was formerly called the 'New Inn', and was at one time an inn. It is one of the fine old houses left in Corbridge with thick walls, and cellar with barrel-shaped ceiling. (2)

Monk's Holme is of 16/17th century date. (3)

Monk's Holme is a picturesque and interesting town-house in an excellent state of preservation. It is now converted into flats. An inscription over the entrance states:- 'Monks's Holme, Restored MD CCCXCI.' (4)

The building is largely a 19th century restoration and is not outstanding. (5)

Monsholme, Main Street (east end). Grade II listed building. House, formerly an inn. Dated 1580 over 19th century front door, but may be early 17th century, altered in 18th century and restored in 1891. Interior largely remodelled in 1891. The rear wing was formerly of greater extent; barrel vaulted cellar beneath adjacent yard. (6)

L-shaped in plan facing the town. It was restored in 1891 and a porch was added. (7)

Despite restoration, the building has genuine attic dormers as seen in Hexham etc. (8)
