Cultivation Terraces (Warden)

There are cultivation terraces in the neighbourhood of High Warden. (1)(2)

Area NY 91216757. A series of pasture covered terraces, six in number extending for 350m north-south. The working areas vary between 6m-8m in width with a vertical interval of 0.4m - 1.6m.
Area centred NY 9115 6715. Three pasture covered terraces with working areas varying from 0.4m - 6m wide and vertical intervals of 0.5m - 1.4m, they extend for 200m north-south.
Both series of terraces lie on an east facing slope with an approximate gradient of 1:4. (3)

Published Survey (25 inch) correct. (5)

The cultivation terraces, at NY 9121 6757, as described by previous authorities were seen as earthworks and mapped from air photographs; the terraces further to the south were completely obscured by tree shadows. (6)
