On Yatesfield Hill there are remains of a Roman period native settlement and an extensive and well preserved field system. The settlement has seven enclosures scooped into the hillslope and up to ten round houses. Only one of the enclosures does not have a round house inside and this may have been sued as a stock enclosure. The houses measure between 3m and 11m across and may not all have been used as dwellings; some may have been used as store houses, for example. The field system stretches from the settlement to the north and west and has low field banks and clearance cairns forming walls around fields. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
