The remains of a former settlement have been discovered near Blakelaw Farm. The remains consist of house platforms, a hollow way, enclosures and field boundaries. The remains may date to the medieval period although no contemporary documentation has been discovered to support this. The remains of a post-medieval building lie nearby which was used as a source of stone in the 20th century to build another house further down the valley. Some of the remains are shown on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1866.
