Bronze Age pot (Humshaugh)

'An ancient British urn was discovered many years ago at Rye Hill, west of Chesters, and a little to the north of the Roman Wall near Tower Tye'. Exhibited to the Society. (1)

Mentioned in the Museum Accession Book, but the entry is queried. (2)

Rye Hill Farm is at NY 8937 7129, otherwise no further information.(3)

Food vessel urn found with an inhumation and seven flint scrapers beneath a barrow at Rye Hill. Collared urn, 143mm high, 120mm rim diameter, 85mm base diameter. In Museum of Antiquities, 1889.2.4. (4)
