Chipchase deserted medieval village (Chollerton)

This is the site of the deserted medieval village of Chipchase. It was founded by the 13th century and a large village survived until at least the later 16th century. However, one hundred years later it was recorded as being much smaller, and the village was sold off in the mid 18th century and was rapidly destroyed when the area was turned into parkland. All that can be seen today is a rectangular enclosure that may have been part of the village.
