The remains of a two post-medieval bastles, part of a group of five, can be seen at Chesterwood. The bastles adjoin one another and are situated west of Mellom Cottage, Chesterwood. They are known by archaeologists as Chesterwood I and II. They are Scheduled Monuments and Grade II Listed Buildings.
