In 1924, the remains of a rectangular earthwork (not Roman)(4), 100yds north of Howburn Cottages, were obliterated by the plough. A few years previously, well defined ditches were visible on the south and east sides, and traces of a rampart existed on the other two. There was a probable entrance in the east side. (2)(3)(4)
No visible remains, the site falls in a featureless pasture field. Published survey (25 inch) revised. (5)
The feature described above was not visible on air photographs available to the Hadrian's Wall NMP project. (6a)
