Turret 37a (Rapishaw Gap) (Bardon Mill)
[NY 7804 6861] TURRET [G.S.] (Site of) (1)
Turret 37a, located by exploratory excavation in 1911, is at the top of the ridge on Hotbank Crags, beyond Rapishaw Gap. (2)(3)
The site is visible as a stone-studded earthen platform. Slight traces of a branch road are visible connecting it with the military way. Surveyed at 1:2500. (4)

The turret was located in 1911 (7b). The turret appears to have been demolished in period II (7c). There are no surviving earthworks. Position given by OS (see authority 4) at NY 7805 6861 accepted. (7a)
The road linking the turret to the Military Way is visible as a slight earthwork on air photographs and was mapped as part of the Hadrian's Wall National Mapping Project. The width of the road is approximately 4 metres which is broadly comparable to that of the Military Way. It is centred at NY 78060 68574. (7d)
