Longcleugh Mine was worked by an independent mining company. Exploited Longcleugh North or Waltons Vein, Longcleugh Middle and South Veins and Lees Vein. Longcleugh Horse Level started at NY 7729 5197 and access to cross veins via shaft at NY 7685 5175 and level at NY 7631 5189.
Waltons Vein Produced 6.4 tons of lead concentrate per 6' advance, output 1848 to 1853 was 284 tons
from "Whitfield Mine" which was probably Longcleugh but may have included Ouston. Reopened in 1970-71 by Ferguson Wild and Co Ltd, looking without success for workable witherite. (2c)
