[Marginal] Three bronze camp kettles and a bronze colander found north of Whitfield Hall (2) prior to 1840. These vessels, which are standard Roman military equipment (3) are now in the Museum of the Society of Antiquaries, Newcastle upon Tyne (1). See Illustration Card. (1)(2)(3)
(4)

Whitfield Hall is at NY 778564, otherwise no further information. See GP AO/56/275/7 for illustration of colander. (5)

Hoard of three bronze cauldrons and a Roman bronze strainer found on Whitfield Moor, at least as long ago as 1848. No record of precise location, possibly found during drainage operations near Whitfield Hall. Find in Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne, except for the largest cauldron (too fragile for display). (6)
