Bell's Chapel, also known as Bell's Kirk, was near Bells Burn, on the border between Scotland and England. It is mentioned in a document written in 1590, and was part of the rectory of Cassilton. The chapel itself no longer exists, but a hollowed out natural boulder, probably used as a font, marks a possible former location. Earthworks at the same location are probably the remains of a cottage called `Bell's House'. Other earthworks mark the positions of field boundaries, stack stands and lazy beds. Archaeologists call this type of abandoned settlement a deserted medieval village.
