Medieval shieling near the Lewis Burn, Kielder (Kielder)
At some time in the medieval period, farmers built this shieling on the north banks of the Lewis Burn. It was used during the warmer months of the year, when animals were brought to the uplands to graze. Today the shieling is ruined. It is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
