Featherstone deserted village (Featherstone)

A settlement is known at Featherstone from the 13th century. A series of medieval documents record the number of taxpayers in the village as well as the number of properties. For instance, in 1377 41 adults were listed in the Poll Tax returns. No trace of the village survives today, although an 18th century map shows some buildings to the north of the castle. These were probably cleared away when the parkland was created in the 19th century.
