Glenwhelt bastle was probably converted to a house in the 18th century as there is an inscription over the doorway dated 1757. The bastle lies in the rear of the house and despite this change in use, there are still a number of original features visible. These include an original wall 1.25m thick and a first floor doorway (now blocked). The 18th century part of the house also has some interesting original features from this time. (1)(2)

House and cottage dated 1757 on doorway, incorporating late 16th to early 17th century remains, possibly of a bastle house. (3)(4)
