Christon Bank Farm planned farm buildings (Embleton)

Farmbuilding group to north of Christon Bank Farmhouse, Grade II. Planned farmbuildings, second quarter of 19th century with later additions. L-shaped plan barn/byre with longer L-shaped range joining south east corner ending with a cartshed/granary. Four wings run south. North range of main yard has a white brick arched panel with pigeon openings. (1)

Christon Bank, about 8 miles north of Alnwick, takes its name from the Christon family who, as yeoman farmers and members of the Society of Friends, or Quakers, originally bought the land from Henry Darling. In 1759 the estate was sold to Henry Taylor of Rock. (2a)
