Holy Trinity Church, Embleton.

Tower may be late 11th or early 12th century, nave shows 13th century style. Later alterations including works by Dobson. (1)(2)

Parish church. Lower part of tower late 11th or early 12th century; nave arcades early 13th century; aisles rebuilt and tower heightened early 14th century; porch later 15th or early 16th century; aisles refenestrated and extended to embrace tower 1850 by John Dobson; chancel and vestry 1867 by F R Wilson. (3)

Church includes a series of war memorials as:
* a brass wall-mounted plaque inscribed "TO THE MEMORY OF/ C.NICHOLAS F. BROWNE/ 2ND LIEUT. 1ST ROYAL DRAGOONS/ DEARLY BELOVED SON OF/ CAPTAIN C.E. BROWNE OF BRUNTON, LATE 15TH (THE KING'S) HUSSARS/ AND KATHLEEN HIS WIFE, AND GRANDSON OF MAJOR BROWNE/ OF DOXFORD HALL. KILLED IN FLANDERS MAY 13TH 1915, FIGHTING/ IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY. AGED 20./ "A GOOD LIFE HATH BUT A FEW DAYS BUT A GOOD NAME ENDURETH FOR EVER".
* a wall-mouned brass plaque inscribed "IN LOVING MEMORY OF/ JOHN CHARLES PULLINE CRASTER/ CAPTAIN 46TH PUNJABIS (ATTACHED TO 40TH PATHANS)/ WHO FELL IN ACTION AT THE TAKING OF/ GYANTSE, TIBET, JUNE 28TH 1904 AGED 33./ "I LOOK FOR THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD".
* a teak cross and pair of candlesticks inscribed "IN MEMORY OF PETER NELSON HOPPER, ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE. LOST AT SEA, 5TH MARCH 1942". (5)(6)(7)
