Marden Deserted Village (Lesbury; Alnmouth)

It has been suggested that Marden was the site of a deserted village. In the late medieval period (14th and 15th centuries) and the post-medieval period many villages either shrank or completely disappeared. Some of these villages left fields filled with earthworks showing where the houses had been. Some, like Marden just left empty fields.
