Lime kiln at Peppermoor Quarry
Lime kiln (disused). (1)
Lime kiln in good condition, partly decayed. Three draw arches, front arch elliptical head, side arches round headed. One eye per arch. One pot, D-shaped; partly infilled. Quarries to the rear. (2)
Lime kiln at Harlaw Hill Waste Disposal Site. Probably late 18th century. Squared sandstone on rubble core. Plan is semi-octagonal, north facing. Centre opening with depressed arch, side openings round arches. Arches corbelled to eyes. Stone-lined pot, largely infilled. (3)
Probable late 18th century lime kiln, of moderate preservation, situated within an area of former quarry (now largely infilled). The kiln is built of dressed sandstone masonry. It is circular in plan with three draw arches, each corbelled to a single segmental arched eye, drawing froma single circular(?) pot.
The pot is badly damaged and difficult to determine its original plan. The kiln is of regional interest. (4)
