Mesolithic flint working site, Spindlestone Heugh (Easington (Northumberland))
Over 6000 years ago, during what archaeologists call the Mesolithic period, people created stone tools at this spot on Spindlestone Heugh. Many of the waste flakes of flint, and some of the tools they made, were excavated by archaeologists in 1924. The objects are stored at the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne.
