Kippy Heugh defended settlement (Easington (Northumberland))
Over 2000 years ago, during what archaeologists call the Iron Age, people lived in an oval-shaped enclosure at Kippy Heugh. The settlement was defended by a ditch and a rampart, which are still visible as earthworks. The remains of a stone round house can still be seen inside the enclosure. Kippy Heugh defended settlement, is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
