Prehistoric artifacts found at Ross Links (Easington (Northumberland); Belford with Middleton)
About 200 worked flints were found on the beach at Ross Links in the 1920s. They were made over 6000 years ago, in what archaeologists call the Mesolithic period. In the same spot, archaeologists found a flint arrowhead made over 4000 years ago in the Neolithic period and Bronze Age pottery, which had been used over 3000 years ago as a container for a cremation burial. Nearby, a brooch pin made over 2000 years ago in the Iron Age was found. The brooch pin is now in the British Museum, London. The other objects are at the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne.
