William the Lion Stone (Alnwick)
In 1174 William the Lion, King of Scotland with a small group of companions was defeated by the English in a fight in open ground before Alnwick Castle. This monument was erected in the 20th century to commemorate the battle. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
