Medieval quern, Battle Bridge (Edlingham)
NU 12831211 (b) Quern found near the farm at Battle Bridge when ploughing the field for the first time during the early part of the War (1939-45). The quern was about 20 inches in diameter with a funnel shaped hole in the centre and a slot for the handle at the side. It was about 3 inches thick. (Not seen but description suggests the upper stone of a medieval rotary quern) It is now in the possession of Mr S C de L Aitchison, Threeways, Tranwell Woods, Morpeth. (1)
