Doddington Red Sandstone Quarry (Doddington)

Doddington Quarry (sandstone). (1)

In use from late 19th century. No longer in continuous operation. Source of easily worked red sandstone, favoured in Scotland. (2)

Doddington red sandstone quarry. A part-flooded late 19th/20th century sandstone quarry. The site includes a derelict early/mid 20th century office building, good multi-finger spoil tips and the remains of a timber crane. The site is currently being worked on an intemittent basis. The spoil tips are the only features of any note, the remainder is of local interest. (3)
