Linshiels stone axe (Alwinton)
A very fine stone axe was found in a grass field at Linshiels. The ace is smooth all over and in perfect condition. It was made of felsite, a local stone that can be used to make very thin, sharp tools. Such axes belong to the Neolithic period.
