Buckton (Kyloe)
Buckton was a member of the Bishop of Durham's estate of Islandshire. 1560/1 survey: 12 husbandlands, 12 cottages, 20 tenants each with a tenement and 16 acres of arable land. 1580: 12 tenants equipped for Border Service. 1666 Hearth Tax: 29 householders. 1711 Haggerston rental: one tenant. 1757: three leases.

The placename 'Buckton' suggests the vill raised deer. It was a dependency in drengage of Fenwick in 1210 and a dependency owing works to Fenwick. (3)
