Bewick Hill cup and ring marks (Bewick)

On Bewick Hill there are several rocks with carved cup and ring marks. At least three can be seen now, and there reports in the 19th century of two others. The designs are a mix of cup and ring marks, and one rock also has a small, carved basin, which is probably artificial. These carvings probably date to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age. Their purpose is not known, but they may have a religious meaning. These carvings are Scheduled Monuments protected by law.
