Hepburn Bell Iron Age enclosure (Tillside)
On the top of Hepburn Bell is a prehistoric earthwork. It is probably Iron Age in date and comprises one rampart, or bank, which forms an oval enclosure. The rampart survives as an upstanding feature about 0.5m high. In medieval times the enclosure has been ploughed and the remains of ridge and furrow cultivation can be seen across it.
