Spur from Roseden Edge (Cheviotside)

Heavy brass spur, found on Roseden Edge about 1855, and 'sent in' by Mr Ilderton with the remark 'not very far off a battle was once fought there'. (1)

According to Mr James Guthrie, Steward at Ilderton Farm, the Ildertons left the district over 30 years ago. He has no knowledge of the spur, or of the spot where it was found. Mr Crondice, shepherd of Roseden Farm, referred to a battle fought upon Roseden Edge (according to local tradition). No further information available. (2)

Tradition of a battle at Roseden Edge. Possibly spurious. (3)
