Ros Castle (Tillside)
This Iron Age settlement stands in a commanding position on the highest hill in the area. It is defended by one rampart made of earth and stone, with a ditch around the south and east sides. There are two possible entrances, in the north-east and south-west sides. Inside the hillfort are the remains of two circular depressions which may be the traces of hut circles. A stone wall runs through the settlement and on the east side of it is a platform of large stones suggested as the site of a medieval or post-medieval beacon. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
