Cairn (Tillside)
There is a tumulus 25ft in diameter and 4ft-5ft high on Westwood Moor 110 yards to the south-east of a ring marked rock (NU 02 NW 36). (1)
NU 02272814 A truncated cairn measuring 7.3m in diameter with a maximum height of 0.6m. No signs of ditch or retaining circle. (2)
A mis-shapen, heather-covered mound of loose stone collected around two small outcrops. It falls in a clearance area, and is a doubtful burial cairn. Surveyed at 1:2500. (3)
NU 02152810 (?) Weetwood Barrow, with cup and rings. Barrow may have been investigated by Canon Greenwell in 19th century.
Damaged by bulldozer in May 1982 and remaining barrow excavated. Several stones uncovered which had cup and ring markings. Largest stone had a pattern of concentric circles and three radial grooves. No signs of a cist. The carvings were freshly pecked and many were face down. Ritual/funerary significance. Site restored. Most of the small stones in Wooler Museum. (4)
Reinstated mound. The carved stones are now in Berwick Museum. (5)
