Cairn (Tillside)
This large cairn stands on Weetwood Moor. It was damaged by a bulldozer in 1982 and when it was being repaired a number of carved cup and ring marked stones were found. The purpose of this site is not clear. It was probably not a burial mound as no sign of a grave was found. However, the carved stones may mean that the mound had a religious purpose in the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age.
