Bronze Age cist found near Glanton Pike (Glanton)
At a place called Deer Street near Glanton Westfield in 1716 a mason digging for stone discovered a cist measuring 3 feet by 2 feet. The cist was empty but later, when a piece of uneven ground was being levelled three more cists were discovered, each containing two urns, charcoal and burnt bones. Nearby were two more urns, one large and the other very small. All the urns fell to pieces or were broken. (1)
