Bronze Age Cist (Ingram)
In the Middle Field on a high gravel hill a tumulus was opened in 1827; it had been ploughed and was low.
Finds included a cist 5ft in length, a broken urn, unburnt bones and 'something like an iron spear in fragments of from a few to 10ins in length'. The head of the inhumation was laid to the south-west. (1)
Pottery of unidentifiable type known from literature only. (Fragment of iron not listed). (2)
Area NU 050182: Mid Field is assumed to be the 'Middle Field' referred to by Hardy. The field concerned, now under the plough, is situated on a general north-east slope, and has a slight glacial mound in the centre (probably the tumulus). The present location of the finds could not be ascertained. (3)
Food vessel found in a cist with a contracted inhumation and 'iron spear'. Lost. (4)
