Turf Knowe round houses (Ingram)
NU 005157. Settlement of unenclosed round houses at Turf Knowe. (1)
Single unenclosed ring-grooved house, c.10m diameter. 39m from robbed cairn NU 01 NW 41. Visible on aerial photographs. (2)
Situated on a very gentle west-facing slope just below a summit ridge at NU 0052 1565, is a hut circle of ring-ditch form measuring 7.5 m in diameter (between ditch centres), the ditch being about 0.8 m wide and up to 0.3 m deep. There is a vague entrance causeway breaking the ditch in the west arc. To the east and west are scatters of clearance cairns [NU 0015/55 and 62] and 35 m to the south-east, there is a well-preserved burial cairn [NU 0015/61].(3)(5a)
A prehistoric hut circle, centred at NU 0052 1565, is visible as an earthwork on air photographs. It has an internal diameter of a little over 6m and comprises a ditch approximately 1m wide. A portion of the ring ditch (to the south and south-west) is not visible on the air photographs available. It may be evidence of an entrance. (3)
