Copper axe (Cheviotside)

An axe of copper probably in a pure or nearly pure state was found in draining a moss on Hedgeley Moor, and near Percy's Leap. It lay 4 feet down. Length 4-3/4ins, cutting edge 2-5/8ins broad, butt 1-1/4ins broad. (1)

An axe of the most simple type (illustrations shows a flat axe) In Case H No 189. (2)
