Newton (Whitton and Tosson)
This is the site of the deserted medieval village of Newton. It was first recorded in 1249. It expanded in size during the 14th to 17th centuries, but by the 19th century only three farms survived. The earthwork remains of low banks, building platforms and yards are still visible as well as fishponds and a bastle.
