Stocksfield Railway District Control Building (Broomley and Stocksfield)

A Cold War railway control building was constructed at Stocksfield about 1954. In the event of World War 3 breaking out this would have been used in the event of Newcastle being targeted by bombing. It was hoped that this would have allowed some continuation of rail transport in the region. The building appears to have been demolished by 1980.
