Barelees prehistoric/Roman ditch and enclosure (Ford)

A prehistoric/ Roman ditch and a possible curvilinear ditched enclosure are visible as cropmarks on air photographs. Only three sides of the enclosure are visible and these measure 50m by 77m. To the south and perpendicular to this is a short section of ditch. (1)(3a)

A series of cropmarks have been identified in aerial photographic work undertaken as part of the Till Tweed National Mapping Programme from a 1994 aerial photograph of the Pallinsburn area. These are a series of three ditches which are thought to be Prehistoric or Roman period in date. They may be associated with a rectilinear enclosure located to the south in some way, but they do not run to or from it. (2)
